About me

making art accessible

I am a potter in Columbia, South Carolina who primarily makes functional work, with the occasional "just for pretty" piece thrown in. I believe that pottery provides an opportunity for people to bring art into their lives and interact with it in a new way.

In addition to making pots, I work as a pottery instructor for beginners. It brings me such joy to introduce others to something I love so much.

Artist Statement

My work is born from a desire to weave a moment of art into the fabric of daily living. As functional pottery, these pieces are not just meant to adorn shelves, but to be held, touched, and incorporated into the rituals that define our existence. It is my firm belief that art should not remain distant, but should thrive in the intimate spaces where we gather, dine, and find comfort.

When a person interacts with one of my pieces, they are engaging with something that has been meticulously designed to blend comfort with beauty. My process is one of aesthetics and practicality – every curve, contour, and surface is carefully considered to ensure both visual appeal and functional grace. The weight of a mug in hand, the tactile pleasure of a glazed surface, the mark noting the chosen front of a piece – each detail contributes to an experience that marries utility with aesthetic pleasure.

There is an undeniable joy in knowing that my creations become companions to life's most ordinary and extraordinary moments. In these moments, art becomes an integral part of the narrative, enhancing the tapestry of memories that we weave. My work is an invitation to pause, to appreciate the artistry that exists within the everyday. Through my pottery, I seek to enrich your experiences, to bring a touch of aesthetic wonder to your daily routines.
